Associates Degree in Theatre or related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of three years of related experience or experience in a related field. Certifications may be required. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
This full-time staff member, working primarily in the Department of Theatre and Musical Theatre, serves as a member of the College of Arts and Media production team. The purpose of the position is to provide support for all scenic painting, stage properties, scenic construction, supervision of student crews, and other technical theatre duties (including backstage operations) and assist in the coordination of production support for events in dance, opera, and film, as needed. Must be student-focused and committed to collaborative production assignments and processes.
Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):
Serves as a member of the College of Arts and Media production team. Assists with the supervision of the scene shop, paint deck, welding shop, scenic construction and installation, stage properties, and backstage operations, including supervision of student crews and student employment. Provides instruction for the safe use of all scene shop and stage equipment or technologies. Maintains stock scenery and inventory. Assists in the maintenance or the setup of events for all facilities within the College of Arts and Media; including the University Theatre Center ( UTC ), the Gaertner Performing Arts Center ( GPAC ), the Dan Rather Communications Building ( DRCB ), the School of Music ( SOM ), and the Dana G. Hoyt Fine Arts Building ( ART ) facilities. Works with the CAM production team to support production activities across the college as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.
