Job Summary

Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) invites applicants for Assistant Professor in Social Work starting August 1, 2025. Applicants should hold a terminal degree in Social Work with at least two years of teaching experience and involvement in the practice of social work. Successful candidates will be expected to develop and teach upper-level undergraduate Social Work and Human Services courses in the new Social Work concentration of a recently redesigned Human Services program. Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to undergraduate education, student engagement, research, and service to the college and community.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Teaching four undergraduate courses every semester.
Mentoring and student engagement
Evaluating students to measure their progress in achieving institutional and course goals.
Developing courses related to social work.
Conducting research and service commensurate with rank.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D., DSW, or MSW degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited social work program with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Social Work.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D., or DSW in Social Work or related discipline
2 years college level teaching experience
Experience, 2-3 year minimum, in the practice of Social Work
LCSW is not required but encouraged
Specializations preferred include social work policy, social work advocacy, social work program evaluation and administration, medical social work, disaster and crisis intervention, substance abuse or social work practice with global populations
