Job Description: Sous Chef
Apiary Fine Catering and Events is searching for a full-time Sous-Chef. This full-time salaried position has dynamic work hours that require availability 5 to 6 days per week in accordance with scheduled Apiary events and/or private events both on-site and off.
Minimum 5 years of cooking experience is required, with at least 2 years spent in a similar management role such as sous-chef or chef de cuisine. Resume and cover letter are required. Average work week is 5 days, averaging roughly 50 hours per week.
Pay Rate $55-$65K
Duties- Act as liaison between the Culinary Director and/or Executive Chef, communicating necessary information to the other members of the culinary team.- Assist in managing daily operations (such as prep lists) for all Apiary events and private events and ensuring the team has the information to be successful in advance of their shift.- Lead by example, setting the pace, attitude and morale of the team daily. Maintain a world-class culture; set high but achievable expectations and aspire the staff to achieve greatness.- Mentor, train and oversee culinary team members, delegate tasks and enforce policies- Manage kitchen staff through prep and party lists, taking extra care to ensure that all tasks are completed to quality and quantity standards.-Oversee food deliveries by multiple vendors and ensure quantity, quality, and condition are being met or exceeded. In addition, Oversee the walk-in and other refrigeration and storage areas - especially as it pertains to specific product usage, wrapping, condensing, and labeling.- Assist in creating new dishes as needed for Apiary events and private events. This includes cookbook and menu research and culminates into dish experimentation resulting in finished dishes ready to be executed.
